1.Museo De Mallorca:
The museum is housed inside a 16th century palace- ‘Ca la Gran Cristiana’. This is an archeological museum which has important collections from archeological excavations carried out around the city. There are ceramic figurines and art works which from the ancient settlers of the Island. The different periods of colonization of the region are reflected in the various reproductions kept here. In another section ornaments, weapons and religious and spiritual symbols from those periods are on display. There are also paintings, Renaissance and Baroque ceramics, and a section with modernistic furniture.

2.The Museum of Contemporary Art:
This museum is inside a modern building. There are 69 pieces of art from artists such as Picasso, Miro, Dali, etc. In another gallery, temporary exhibitions are also held where works from international and local artists are held. There is a museum shop where you can buy catalogues, postcards, books, etc.
Timetables: Monday to Friday, 10am-6.30pm.
Saturdays: 10.30am-2pm.
Closed: Sundays and public holidays.

3.Pilar and Joan Miro Foundation:
The artist lived in Mallorca from 1956 till the time of his death. He had four workshops here and he created a lot of pieces of art. In this museum, a permenant collection of his creations is on display. Most of the paintings have been donated by the artist himself. There are mainly paintings, drawings and graphic works; and in the gardens, you can see some of Miro's sculptures. The workshop where the artist worked during the last years of his life can also be visited.
In addition, occasional exhibitions of other artists are also held.

4.Palma Antique Dolls Museum
More than 500 dolls of various types are on display in this museum, most of them from the years from 1840-1940. These years are also known as the golden century for the dolls. The museum is located in the old part of the city, where dolls from the collection of Alicia Garcia German. Her collection features beautiful dolls from ancient origins: there are cloth dolls, terracotta, wooden, and wax dolls and figures. There are also dolls from Germany, France, and Italy. Some of the dolls are exquisitely crafted and adorned with fine and rich materials. The dolls are a represent the craftsmanship and the cultural trends of the times in Europe. |
